CEC Value Proposition

• A voice within the Commonwealth for engineering, e.g. with the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meetings (CHOGM).
• Visibility within the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (on the Executive Council and within Standing Technical Committees) for Commonwealth Engineering Institutions who are not themselves Members of WFEO (for example Small Island States and other smaller nations).
• Additional support for those Commonwealth Engineering Institutions who are already Members of WFEO.
• Invitation to an annual event during the WFEO General Assembly/Executive Council meetings.
• Alliances with other Commonwealth organisations (architects, planners, surveyors) active in the Built Environment and with the Sustainable Cities Initiative spearheaded by the Princes Foundation, and involvement/participation in associated CPD events and webinars. Coordinating the regular Survey of the Built Environment Professions in the Commonwealth.
• Access and influence in the FAEO-led Africa Catalyst Infrastructure Report Card project in which CEC is a lead Partner. CEC was the lead in developing the Web App for Infrastructure Reporting which is at the core of this project. Allied to this is CEC’s involvement in the parallel WFEO IRC Project.
• CEC established an MoU with FAEO in 2019, building in part on the relationships built between CEC, FAEO and African PEIs in a succession Africa Catalyst Projects.
• Utilising modern communications to enable support for smaller Commonwealth economies, for example by collaborations and sharing of resources between institutions of different sizes.
• CEC can help give visibility, voice and a network to countries at risk of many aspects of climate change.
• Through CEC projects and knowledge sharing, larger member institutions can give support to smaller institutions. CEC can also provide visibility of the brilliant work being performed across the Commonwealth.
• Individual membership has the benefit of offering individual networking and knowledge sharing.
• CEC members are welcome to submit news stories or notifications to be considered for the quarterly CEC newsletter.
