Co-leads for the Young Engineers / Future Leaders
Chisanga O. KAPACHA
I am a dedicated Engineering professional with a passion for fostering the implementation of projects that promote water and environmental management. With extensive knowledge and expertise in these fields, I have played a pivotal role in promoting water security and environmental sustainability.
My passion for sustainability has gained notable recognition after serving in various United Nations Volunteer roles with esteemed organisations such as the Global Waste Cleaning Network (GWCN) in the United Kingdom and the Goodness and Mercy Missions in Cameroon.
In my pursuit to amplify youth representation in engineering, I engaged in the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Worldwide Cohort, subsequently becoming an Alumni Member in 2021. Notably, my involvement with YALI culminated in me being a part of the team that won first prize in the YALI-Digitalized Sustainability Waste Management Challenge, funded by USAID, MKAfrica, and DOW.
I am known for my strong interpersonal skills and my ability to drive change. These valuable attributes are exhibited by my strong value to actively contribute towards the global agenda of sustainability. Motivated by this I represented the United Nations Climate and Oceans Youth Council at the COP26 Fringe of Events in 2021. I'm honoured to hold memberships with the Engineering Institution of Zambia and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management UK. My desire to stay at the edge of knowledge has led to the recognition of my academic efforts ultimately resulting in me being awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholarship in the UK.
As Co-Lead for the Commonwealth Engineers Council, Young Engineers Group, I'm passionate about empowering the next generation of engineers and fostering positive change. Beyond professional activities, I find fulfilment in giving career advice, expanding my network, and listening to sermons.
